Things to do !

Cove Bay Harbour

Only 10 minutes away from Aberdeen City Centre and you are transported from the hussle and bussle to the sleepy fishing village of Cove Bay. The old fishing boats on the foreshore are a colourful reminder of past times, the friendly locals and clean fresh sea air.

From the car park on the way down to the harbour you can

sit in your car and watch the sea, whatever the weather conditions.

On a clear day, outstanding views of the cliffs and the rugged coastline is outstanding.

If you haven`t seen dolphins or whales keep a look out !

Last year a adult humpback whale and juvenile was spotted off CoveBay. A bit smaller is the Minkie Whale, 6 of these surrounded one of the local fishing boats last August.

Much more common are the dolphins, two types are very common around Cove Bay, the Bottlenose and the White Beaked. They can be seen in groups travelling up and down the coast, giving displays to boats that get close.

I have had personal experience of this, when Jenifer and myself where out in our boat. We spotted them coming towards us, jumping out of the water. And we had 30 minutes of fun as the Bottlenose Dolphins played in the wake of the boat.

It was the first time Jenifer had seen wild dolphins and made a lasting impression on us.
