Healthy Liver & Chicken Brownies

 

3 cups of liver (fresh beef)

1 cup of chicken hearts

(do NOT substitute gizzards!)

1 tablespoon garlic powder

2 eggs

1 tablespoon of Lecithin

 (from soy) make sure its granulated or powdered

1 tablespoon of Glucosamine (optional-approximately 10 caplets)

1/2 cup of ground flaxseed (from health food store-you can also use whole seeds).

Put all ingredients except flaxseed in food processor (or blender) and puree for about 2 minutes, slowly add the flaxseed. The mixture will be like cake batter. Spread evenly in an un-greased cookie sheet with sides, it should be about 1/4 inch thick. Bake for approximately 15-20 minutes or until moist but springy to the touch in a 350 degree oven. Cool and cut into 1 1/2" x 1/1/2" squares.




MEATBALL MANIA


1/2 lb. ground beef

2 tbsp. grated cheese

1 carrot, finely grated

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1/2-cup bread crumbs (whole wheat is healthiest)

1 egg, beaten

1 tsp. tomato paste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients together; mix thoroughly. Roll into meatballs - whatever size is appropriate for your dog. Place on a cookie sheet sprayed with non-fat cooking spray. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they are brown and firm. Cool and store in the fridge or freezer.





Turkey Treats

 

2 cups cooked turkey -- cut up

2 cloves garlic

4 teaspoons grated cheese

1 tablespoon parsley -- freshly chopped

2 egg

2 cups whole wheat flour

2 tablespoons brewer's yeast

2 tablespoons vegetable oil                                                                                     

Combine turkey, garlic, cheese, parsley and mix well. Beat the eggs in a bowl and pour over turkey mixture. Add the flour, yeast, and oil. Stir until thoroughly mixed and all ingredients are coated. Drop into small lumps onto ungreased cookie sheet. Cook in a 350-degree oven for about 20 minutes, until brown and firm. Store in refrigerator.




Canine Carrot Cookies


2 cups carrots -- boiled and pureed

2 eggs

2 tablespoons garlic -- minced

2 cups unbleached flour -- *see Note

1 cup rolled oats

1/4 cup wheat germ

*or rice flour or rye flour.

Combine carrots, eggs and garlic. Mix until smooth. Add dry ingredients. Roll out on heavily floured surface and cut into bars or desired shapes. Bake at 300F degrees for 45 minutes or to desired crunchiness. The centres will continue to harden as they cool. Brush with egg white before baking for a glossy finish.



BANANA PUPCAKES   

                             

2 cups water

2 bananas

1/2-teaspoon vanilla

3 cups whole-wheat flour

1/2-tablespoon baking powder

1 egg

2 tablespoons honey

Preheat oven to 350. In bowl combine water, mashed bananas, vanilla, egg and honey. Add flour and baking powder. Mix well. Pour into cupcake pans. ( I used non-stick spray on the pans) Bake 20 min or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.                                                                                    Frosting - In a mixer combine 12 oz non-fat cream cheese, 1 teaspoon. Vanilla, 1 teaspoon. Honey. Add 3-teaspoon cinnamon or carob powder, if desired.
